2nd Graders are beating the "winter blues" by jamming to Duke Ellington's "C Jam Blues".
Ms. P's first graders practice keeping the beat while singing and moving to this holiday favorite!
1st and 2nd graders tested their knowledge of rhythm by listening and then finding the correct rhythm shown on the cards below. Mrs. Petersen's class demonstrated their best turkey trot and worked together to lead their team to victory. 2nd graders in Ms. Lua's class celebrated the season by performing "Skin and Bones", a spooky song story. They chose sound effects to set the scene, actors to make the story come to the life, and continued to practice steady beat on xylophones to accompany their piece. Students in Mrs. Nocera's class get to know each other as 1st grade musicians! They picked 5 silent greetings and introduced themselves to their classmates with singing and movement. June has been a busy month in the music room! We were dancing and drumming at Field Day, we have been rehearsing for our final All-School Assembly on Perseverance, and last week 2nd grade musicians had a special visit from Lane School's 5th Grade Chorus. We learned about what it means to be in an ensemble and all about the music opportunities at Lane School. 2nd grade musicians sang "Brave" and we sang together with the 5th grade singers "This Is Me" from our Spring Concert. We will miss you 2nd graders and we wish you luck as you move on to 3rd grade!
